Building The 3 kW Reaper Off Grid Wind Turbine - Complete DIY Build - Plans Available 📄 🎥 Off The Grid | Channify
Check out my latest project: https://youtu.be/yXQnydST9fw Plans for this project are available here: https://www.resystech.com/3-kw-wind-turbine See this turbine producing peak power: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef5nDuJD7kA In this video I build and install the 3 kW Reaper wind turbine. I know it's long, so I posted some time stamps in the comments below to help you navigate to the parts that might interest you. This is a super efficient wind turbine with a 12 ft (3.7 m) diameter rotor driving two 12 coil/16 pole axial flux permanent magnet generators to eliminate the cogging resistance that's inherent in so many radial flux designs, and it has a power potential of 3 kW in a ~30 mph wind stream. In an area with a mean annual wind speed of 11 mph (5 mps) or higher, this turbine will produce 500 kWh+ of energy every month, nearly enough to take an avg home completely off the grid: Wind atlas http://www.windatlas.ca/nav-en.php?field=E1&height=30&season=ANU&no=12 Energy production estimates http://www.windatlas.ca/rose-en.php?ni=1117&nj=380&height=30 Currently, this turbine is charging a 24V battery bank via the Midnite Classic 200 MPPT wind/hydro ready charge controller. Those who are familiar with this controller will know that its max power rating for a 24V system is only 2000 watts, so for the time being I need to prevent the turbine from exceeding that threshold in winds above 20 mph, until the voltage clipper/diversion load is hooked up and I upgrade the battery bank from 24V to 48V this summer when adding the new PV panels to the system. Connected to a 48V battery bank, the Midnite controller can handle 4000 watts safely, and the clipper will protect it from voltage spikes in high winds as well as provide a diversion load when the batteries become full and keep the blades from 'free wheeling' out of control. Then I can let the turbine run 24/7 without any worries. I'll post updates on the changes when the time comes. Thanks for all of your support folks, and for sticking around to see this project finished. I know it's been a long process, but anything worth doing is worth doing right. I'm starting the next project this week. Something different, but fun and clean energy related, of course. I'm anxious to get started. I don't think I'm going to do a video series like I did with the Reaper, it's way too much work and only drags the process out longer for all of us, so you probably won't hear from me for a few more weeks unless you follow the progress updates on Facebook ;) DIY modular tool guide system: https://youtu.be/DPL57IxYcD8 DIY coil winder: https://youtu.be/EQAbjVUMcCc DIY vacuum injection stator mold: https://youtu.be/J5sPsZR8i8A DIY benchtop lathe: https://youtu.be/BhVEN_Z3HHg DIY fiberglass molds: https://youtu.be/LAdMuZjicrs In need of quality custom built batteries?
