In the Academy Award winning documentary O.J.: Made In America, director Ezra Edelman did what so many in the media have done since 2000: Treat Mark Fuhrman with kid gloves. Ezra Edelman’s documentation and presentation of the history of the relationship between Los Angeles law enforcement and the African-American community is an absolute masterpiece, but his whitewashing of Mark Fuhrman is an absolute abomination. However, Ezra Edelman is not alone in the whitewashing of Mark Fuhrman, the process began in 2000 when the ABC News hired Furhman to be paid consultant and on-air analyst for Good Morning America’s coverage of the Michael Skakel trial. In 2002 both Court TV and CBS News hired Mark Fuhrman to be an on-air contributor. In 2003 Mark Fuhrman was hired by FOX News; he currently serves as the “news” outlet’s “forensic and crime scene expert for FOX News Channel (FNC).” With the exception of NBC and CNN, every major network has endorsed the whitewashing of a genocidal racist. Fact or Fuhrman? is the theme of the ninth episode of O.J. Simpson: Fact or Fiction?, an episodic series of mini-documentaries which focuses on one element of the O.J. Simpson saga per episode. Throughout the episode you will be presented with the statements of Mark Fuhrman and evidence which contradict each statement, then for each statement you will have to render the verdict by deciding which is credible: Mark Fuhrman or the contradictory evidence presented. PLEASE NOTE: This episode contains statements of Mark Furhman which are highly offensive, revolting and hateful. These statements have not been edited or censored because doing so would only serve to participate in the whitewashing of Mark Fuhrman.
