Personally, I chose to sleep in Finca Tatin, very nice lodge and not in Livingston too touristy for me. You can rent a cayak and travel by the Rio Dulce to Livingston. From Flores, an unattractive city, you can go to Tikal by Shuttle. I advise you to go very early to cross few people and to observe peacefully different monkeys and birds.
