During the admission and orientation process, the storm known as Irma was developing. It was on September 4 that the hurricane went from a Cat 4 to a Cat 5 and things even more serious. We got emailed by the school to move to Building 2 which can withstand the Hurricane. To keep things quite short, we were waiting to be rescued due to the intense damage Hurricane IRMA did to the island of St Martin. It wasn't until September 9 (the day of my birthday) that we got supported by the US military which picked us up in a C-130 airplane. This is a short and really small video of the nearby places that got impacted by the hurricane. There were areas that where even worst and hotels that almost collapsed. I'm truly thankful for all the help provided by the US army, Dutch army, Puerto Rican Government, and last but not least AUC community. Thanks to all of them we made it back safe and sound. Of course, we lost multiple things like electronics, food, cloths, books, printers, furnishers, etc but the most important thing is that we made it back alive. It was a difficult and challenging experience but during this event, we grew a strong bond with the institution, multiple medical students and even local refugees that arrived at the shelter.
