Piece of advice for anybody driving thru similar checkpoints: - prepare in advance your ID documents: driver's license, passport, etc., - open ALL windows of your vehicle/truck so the border agent will be able to visualize that you do not have anything illegal in your vehicle, - be polite, never argue with them, do not be confrontational, they are out there solely to prevent any illegal stuff (drugs, guns or people/mostly from Mexico) getting into the country.
