Quick video I thought I'd put together while dealing with an uncommon issue I've seen a few times. A faulty SATA cable in a MacBook Pro (connects the hard drive and also the front indicators) can cause all the symptoms of a failed hard drive, including bad read/writes, crashing, or even the drive just not being detected. Put the same drive in another computer, and it's absolutely fine. Change that SATA ribbon and you're groovy.
