MONTCLAIR — Police and the Essex County Prosecutor's Office are investigating the fatal stabbing of a 20-year-old Orange resident. Akirah Townes was stabbed outside a home on Hartley Street at 6 a.m. Friday morning, said Acting Essex County Prosecutor Robert D. Laurino in a press release. She was taken to St. Joseph's Regional Medical Center and was pronounced dead at 6:42 a.m. There have not been any arrests made or suspects named. Jeff Beckett, owner of the barbershop on the corner of Hartley Street and Bloomfield Avenue said there were at least five police cars when he went to open at about 9 a.m. Friday morning. Several investigators and an Essex County Prosecutor's Office van remained on the scene until about 10:30 a.m.
