So everyone knows, this was done PURELY to show how to do a stencil with dip. The tail lights were done because I figured it was an easy part to demonstrate on. It was taken off shortly after. So stop crying in the comments haha Here are the answers to most of your questions.... 1. Will it come off? No it's not permanent but YES it is resilient. So yes it will come off. Xylol xylene and a rag took it off super easy. 2. Is this regular or smoke Plastidip It is regular. I do say this in the video, however I should have put it in the description. Sorry for the confusion. 3. Is that Forza Music? What kind of car is that? Yes it is! :) Makes for great ambient music. Also, it's a BMW 335xi. It's my winter car. (thus the whole "it's cold right now" in the video) 4. Yes it IS illegal. At least where I live. HOWEVER, no In the few days I left it on I didn't get pulled over once for it. I got pulled over for speeding and the cop didn't even mention it. I really think it just depends on the cop that is behind you and how he feels about it. 5. isn't it too dark? Aren't you worried about people not being able to see your lights when you brake? etc. No, in the video they might look KIND OF dim, but in person the light output was barely changed. HOWEVER, that doesn't mean that it wont be on your car. It depends on what kind of bulbs you have, HOW MANY COATS YOU DID, and just in general how nice your lights are. Either way, it was not an issue with me and not once did I get the impression that someone couldn't see them. Plastidip IS very transparent if you do a few light coats... you literally JUST watched proof that it is... lol 6. Why didn't you use film? or why didn't you use "night shade"? First off, I didn't use night shade because until I read these comments I hadn't ever heard of it. Second, I didn't use film because the other sets of film that i've used either didn't fit right, were a pain to take off, peeled up on the edges, and were much more expensive than this DIY. 7. Why did you use masking tape instead of electrical tape, duct tape etc. Because masking tape leaves ZERO residue. Duct tape and electrical tape can both leave lots of residue. As I stated in the Video though, you can always use flexible nylon/ straight line tape I believe for round edges. 8. Why didn't you just mask everything BUT the clear part then blah blah blah... really?... mask the part that I WANTED to paint?.... A. that would have taken forever B. it would have used WAY more paint. C. I would NEVER mask everything then use a razor on my tail lights.... thats just silly. 9. What was the point of the "press and seal" The point of that was to show you another way that I had seen it done. I then went on to say how I do not reccomend it cause you would get garbage results. 10. How many coats did you do? If you watch the video I technically did 1 coat. it was a thick coat but I did that because I knew I wasn't going to be laying it on to the point that it was not transparent. you will have to be the judge on how many coats/passes you do. Good news is, if you put on too much, or too little, no worries! It's plastidip and it'll come right off! Than do it again! 11. Could you do this on your headlights? I guess you could... although I could see that being a much easier way to get pulled over. But really, it's worth a try. Worst case is you tell the cop that pulls you over that you didn't realize it was illegal and ask him if he'll give you the opportunity to peel it off on the spot. 12. Do you feel the edges with your hands? You can if you rub your hand over it, but it's very faint. And no it did not make it peel. Really at the end of the day, Like I said in the video. Its not everyones style. It's non permanent, it's SUPER cheap, and most of all THIS MAINLY WAS A TEST AND A GUIDE ON HOW TO STENCIL WITH PLASTIDIP, not REALLY how to plastidip JUST your lights. So use whatever product you want. I just used regular dip cause I had some lying around from doing window trim. And like most mods to your car, you're doing this at your own discretion, so be safe and use common sense. if you "black out" your lights, you may be running the risk of accident.
